Can you tell the sex of puppies

I just found out that the dam will be going in for a ultrasound to see how many puppies she'll be having. Can they also tell the sex of the puppies then, or is that different for dogs. The dam is due Jan. 23rd. Thanks for any help, Diane

My understanding of current ultarsound technology for dogs is that it can diagnose the pregnancy and number of puppies; it can't determine the sex of each puppy.

Thank you for the information. I only ask because from the last litter they only had one female and 7 other males. The wait seems so long I just can't wait to find out if there will be a female for me banana :204 banana :204 banana :204 The wait is killing me :)
