Our 7 week old female pup is desperatley seeking a permanent name....Can anyone help?
We found many male names,But seem to be having a hard time finding a good name to fit our female.
I'm trying to add a picture of her here.....If it works

We originally were getting a male golden and searched for weeks to come up with the right name. I finally narrowed the long list down to about ten good male dog names.
But then we ended up with a female instead of the male and are back to square one with the name game.... Again.
She's just a little over 7 weeks now and wants to be called something other than "pup".Does anyone have any good ideas? :054

She's soooo cute! I love her wavy ears!
I called Cassidy "pup" for the first month I had her. She still answers to the name Pup. :laugh2
I orginally wanted to name her "Belle" or "Bella", but my best friend beat me to it with her boxer.

I can't think of any names off the top of my head but I can offer mine . . . I have Allie the Golden and Cheyenne a lab mix. Good luck with finding a name, and your dog is beautiful!

How about this: She's Something Elsa "Elsa" for short.
You can put the breeder's name in front of it.

I can't really tell the personality of your pup, but here are a few names that I think of when looking at the picture.
Brandy, Maddy, Daphne, Allie, Lucy, Jewel
She looked like an Ella or Emma to me.....

Hi
I'm pretty new to this site but I think the one thing that is associated with all GRs is probably their love of freedom. I like the name Saoirse (pronounced seersha) which is the irish word for freedom. It is actually become quite popular again recently for new baby girls (of the human variety) :laugh2

I think Elsa is a great name. I used to love a movie called Born Free about a lion and her cubs and the lions namewas elsa, I have always said Golden retriever pups look like lion cubs! I also like Amber, Shasta and Sierra. :032

We went with Tilly for our very pretty puppy, and loads of people commented on how it suits her so well. Oh and my cousin just named her new puppy Maisey..that suits her too. Don't worry something will pop into your head when you lest expect it!

You are SO lucky- she is precious.
My kids just surprised me with two Siamese kittens . They came pre-named (by my boyz) as `Amazing Grace' :p and `Special Ed' .... hmmm. I think I'll stick to Gracie and Ed for them

How about Liberty. You could call her Libby for short. Hobbes was born on the fourth of July and i considered naming him that but liked Hobbes better.

I'm 100% Irish (ancestors) and I, of course, think you have to put an Irish or Gaelic name on your pup. How about my maiden name? Callahan? Callie? Gosh...I could go on and on. All 3 of my grandsons have Irish names...Ian, Colin and Tristan. Yes, the Irish stole Tristan from the French and the Greeks. Did we steal everything from them? rofl3 My Kinsey is an Irish name. And is my Finny, who is NOT Finnegan but rather Finbar....if you're Irish, you will be very familiar with Finbar!! St. Finbar was the first Catholic Bishop of County Cork. Try Irish Counties, Rivers, cities etc for a name. Oops, Ireland Ireland...not Northern Ireland! :roll2
Quinn?
Oh dear, I'll be up all night coming up with cool Irish names for you.

Someone else suggested Bella, I was going to do the same - it seems to fit her and I love it! I also like Daisy, Chloe, Taylor, or Faith :)

I love Elsa also. Our oldest son has a Belgian Malinois named Elsa. He thought she looked like a lion as a puppy. No...BMs do not look like lions cubs. lol It's an adorable name though. Their German Shepherd is named Greta.
You're a good 15 years younger than I am and you liked Born Free? I know...you saw it on TMC, right? rofl3

Actually, it was back in the days of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. I don't remember if it was part of the show or just during the same time period. My kids didn't like the name Elsa. I guess they don't appreciate a "classic" movie name! :D By the way, what are the temperments of your son's 2 dogs? Are they good with little kids?? I have a post under Animal friends you could read! :003

Greta (the German Shepherd) and Elsa (the Belgian Malinois) are unbelievably sweet and gentle and kind and wonderful. I go over there and I love their dogs but I'm actually stunned at how incredibly fabulous they are with a brand new baby. A baby who is still on a monitor by the way and spent 5 weeks up in NICU. These dogs have the most amazing sense of protectiveness and are very sensitive with little "T".

You're right! They do look like lion cubs. And, I think it's clever to have the formal name "She's Something Elsa".

Remember the song from the movie by the same name? "Born Free". Here are the lyrics. It won Best Song at the Oscars in 1966.
Born Free, as free as the wind blows,
as free as the grass grows, born free to fol-low your heart.
Live free, and beau-ty sur-rounds you,
the world still a-stounds you, each time you look at a star.
Stay free, where no walls di-vide you,
you're free as a roar-ing tide, so there's no need to hide.
Born free, and life is worth liv-ing,
but on-ly worth liv-ing 'cause you're born free.
I love Elsa also. Our oldest son has a Belgian Malinois named Elsa. He thought she looked like a lion as a puppy. No...BMs do not look like lions cubs. lol It's an adorable name though. Their German Shepherd is named Greta.

Both nice Germanic names. I would love to have a pair of pets named Greta and Elsa. I wouldn't even mind human girls with those names! :)
