I find it is even better than brushing him. I use the hose attachment of course and he loves it. My other dog wont even let him come near her with it. It unbelievable how much fur it ****s up. :dogbark

What attachment do you use. Sounds like pretty good idea to me. Beau does not seem to mind the vacuum, so I think if I put some p-nut butter on the cabinet I could get him to stand still.

Hello. I vac CC and Rudi also. They love it. I have to do it daily ( the house too ) because of the hair all over the house. I am thinking of shaving them.

What brush do you use? The small upholstery brush maybe?

Thanks

I have got to try this with Merlin!I cannot believe the amount he sheds-and I brush him every day.Its summer here-and my floors-which are hardwood-look like they're covered in a blonde carpet!!!

Merlin doesnt mind the vaccum cleaner-but Im not sure how he'd like it on his back!!I'll try it-and there will be food involved no doubt-LOL

I am thinking of shaving them.

OMG don't do that.
Their fur is special and it protects them from the heat and cold. If you wanted a short haired dog you should have got a Lab.

Sorry it is just that I have seen Goldies shaved YUCk!

I got an attachment from an online supplier for this purpose. Gracie loves it. It has a brush on it...

I have found loads of great products online for my pets.

I ran into a golden this summer at a lake....that was a most odd looking golden I have ever seen one.

His whole body was clipped very short...... except for his head....

At first I had no idea what kind of dog it was...

After talking to the owner, she said that she only did that for the summer as the heat really bothered him.

I love Koda's coat, thats part of what makes him so cute :029 :029

I wish I could vacuum Rockne, but he is so scared of it! When I vacuum the house he will run to another room and just wine and bark. Even if I just put it in the room and don't turn it on, he won't come in that room. Any suggestions how I could get him to not be so scared- maybe even like the vacuum??

Please don't ever think about shaving you dogs hair. When you do this the fur that grows back will be dull the way the dogs undercoat. I have been a groomer for 6 years and I have seen this done it looks horrible also it takes away their beautiful shiny coats. It also does not decrease shedding

Ginger enjoys being vacuumed! I found that out when I was vacuuming the dog bed cover one day with a soft brush attachment, and she kept getting in the way so I playfully vacuumed her with it, and she started wagging her tail like crazy! I haven't done it very often since my vacuum "died" from all the dog hair (from the carpeting not from the dog ;) ) and I have been using a Shop Vac since then which would be too strong to use on a dog!

I think I will try that - Bailey loves the vacuum cleaner.
Try petting Rockne with the sweeper nearby but off -- is he ok with it off? Then maybe turn it on -- leave it and go pet Rockne - giving him love. If you can get to the point where you can pet him while holding the sweeper that is great. I started Bailey in my arms (as a pup) and sweeping at the same time. My last Golden was a little nervous, but she got better after the petting with it going thing was done a few times. The sweeper has a good connection -- love from Mom.
