I'm not sure this is the right forum for this story, but since it's
heading is under Goldens in Services to Mankind, I thought you might enjoy this story of Dylan.
I always use to take Dylan swimming by my landlord's house. He has a large mam made lake for dogs and humans alike could go swimming. I never went swimming until Dylan was 6 years old. When I was in the water, Dylan couldn't figure out why I was in the water so for a while he kept close to me while I was swimming. Then after a while he got use to the idea so he let me be. Then one time my landlord was going to go swimming and took a running jump and dove into the water. Dylan, who was on shore, immediately dove into the water. I thought he was going to come by me, but he swam right to my landlord who was around 30 feet or so from shore. When Dylan reached him, my landlord grabbed Dylan and Dylan swam back to shore landlord in tow. Dylan thought my landlord was in trouble and swam out to rescue him. All this on instinct alone. Needless to say, I was very impressed.
