Don't rely on hoem remedies for ear mites, meds are needed.

Basic whe nclenaing ears are simple. You want to acidify the ear canal to slow yeast and bacteria growth. I would prefer peope luse good ear cleaners (VET Ear cleaner ect....).

Now let me make a sugestion, and not all Vet's are aware of this problem. Do not use Q-Tips! A study was released last year showign that us stupid Vet's and Vet Techs can acutally make ear problems worse by cleaning out hte ears to much with swabs. It seems that the abrassive swabs make micro scratches, allowing Bacteria and yeast to set in more (go figuare).

Best way to clean is to fill the ear canel completly with cleaner (flood it). Massage the soft part where ear meets the head. MAssage till is squishes. DO it alot. Allow doggy to shake the head the loosen the debris and shake it to external canal. Then use a soft coton ball to whipe anything you see out. Repeat daily for a few days.

An ear Cytology will confirm if it is Yeast and/or bacteria and proper meds given to treat it. Clean prior to medicating the ears, or meds won't set in as well. Once under control. Clean at least weekly with mentioned tecnique. Chronic ears need constint cleaning.

Some home made remedies can work, but be careful, yo ucan also make things worse. Do nto clean with cotton swabs, if you understand the micro aspect of it, you knwo it makes it worse in the long run. viniger prps can works sicne it acidifies the ear, but soem dog's may react bad to it so play it by ear.(HAD TO SAY IT THAT WAY LOL).
