This is not in Ontario but Quebec, please stay away from them. Paws R Us Kennel, Shawville is a large puppy mills that sells Goldens aswell as many many other bred. I have a petition online trying to have something done with this place. Many sick dogs sold from them yearly.

They have too many breeds! They don't even keep the poor dogs if they don't breed them anymore. All of their retired breeders go to other homes. Don't they care at all about them if they can't breed anymore? They "offer a variety of breeds to better serve the public. "!? :mad: That place sounds horrible GoldenBlaze.

Paws is horrible and I do hope to close them down or at least word of month can do alot and stop people from buying from them.

I agree with Dogli...look up http://www.grcc.net/ and under Makani Meadows. The breeder's name is Betsy and I just bought my second puppy (now five months) from her. Our first puppy from her (who is now 8 years old, so not a pup anymore) lives with my parents. He's a great dog...and is not only a therapy dog, but a "tester" for other therapy dogs and has been in print, commercial, TV etc. I do have to comment that the breeder is quite picky as to who she sells her dogs to. Have fun!

Hi Weathergirl,

You replied my thread back in January and recommended your breeder - Betsy Ryan at Makani Meadows. How did you find her at the first place and what make you decide to get a puppy from her?

She does not has a website and I can not find any information about her and her dogs from the internet. I find it hard to decide if we should go visit her due to the lack of information. (I have already contacted her and we will talk over the phone.) But I still feel a bit uncomfortable because I can not find pictures of her dogs or her place from the internet. Sorry, I'm so used to get information via the internet.

It will be great if you can let me know where to find more information about her.

Hi goldenlook - I'm in Southern Ontario too, and I just wanted to mention that there is a big dog show this weekend (Nov. 25-27) at the International Centre in Mississauga, near the airport. I've shown there in the past, as well as going as a spectator, and the Golden entry is usually good. If at all you get the chance, I'd highly recommend you go there and check it out. You'll be able to see a variety of Goldens, and should be able to touch base with some breeders as well. You can see the details here (http://www.caledondogs.com/shows.html) .

Aside from that, I do know a wonderful breeder in Southwestern Ontario, if you're interested. I know several people who've bought puppies from her, as well as a few breeders who have bred to her stud dogs, and she is a wonderful person to deal with - very upfront and honest, and she offers lots of support to her puppy buyers for the life of the puppy. I see you've already gotten a number of recommendations, but if you're interested, send me a PM and I'll give you the details.
