Tucker hasn't "discovered" junk food yet! I do give him baby carrots, apples, and banannas with peanut butter in a kong. He smacks his lips like someone with bad manners when he eats that stuff! :laugh2 dog9

doc LOVES popcorn...my fault lol...now as soon as he hears it start to pop in the microwave he is there looking and waiting with tail a wagging :laugh2 he is on a diet right now to shed a few extra pounds so im not having popcorn in front of him that would just be kinda mean...but he does love the baby carrots.

Spinner does not beg for snacks, which I appreciate. Our bassett hound would not leave us alone when we were eating & I'm sure that was our fault.
His favorite thing is to have a lick of my son's popsicle! jump2 We have been very strict on only giving him kibble treats ...... I pick up sample bags of various Nutro flavors when I purchase his food to use as rewards & he too loves the carrots & peanut butter w/ his kong.Just want to make sure he does not become overweight. doggiex1

Strawberry Twizzlers for sure!
She comes running when she hears the bag crackle
Sometimes she starts at one end of one and I meet her in the middle of it......gross! rofl3

goodtim'ns Cheese/Garlic Cookies. She posted a recipe on the Food Foum for these homebaked dog cookies and Cassidy LOVES them. She can smell them as I'm mixing in the bowl. She sits in front of the hot oven the entire time they bake with her nose to the glass just watching (like a kid waiting for their cookies!). She leaves a puddle of drool at the base of the oven. :laugh2 When they are done I have to immediatly get one into the freezer to cool as quick as possible. If she doesn't get one within 2 minutes she will start barking up a storm.
This has become a Sunday night ritual. Every Sunday night is dog baking night.

Did you taste them too? LOL Sounds good from the name, but I have been slammed today and have not had time to look up the recipe.

I must look up that recipe too!
Merlins favorite junk food is also popcorn-when I'm popping it in the microwave, he sits in front of it-turning his head from side to side-then when the microwave 'dings' he starts barking-LOL.... :)

Sugar's favorite junk food is bacon. When Dad is cooking it, she starts moaning and groaning as if she can't wait another second. Also, she wants to make sure Dad doesn't "forget" that she is requesting some. Of course after she's already gotten some, she sits near him with her eyebrows taking turns going up....as if to say that she is a very deprived dog.

Ralphie has not been easily tempted by treats since we got him a few months ago (very shy but improving). We've found he really likes cheese puffs, popcorn, and anything with spaghetti sauce on it. Oh, and Honey Nut Cheerios too. We tried using them for training in obedience class, and they work great. Very small and easy to pick up quickly. As a rule, we don't allow much in the way of people food, but we've been desperate to find something to lure him sometimes, and had to resort to people food.

Our dog loves anything the kids have, which can be from macaroni to cucumbers.

Unfortunately, CAT FOOD. He's obviously not allowed to have it, but he sure does want it. A few times he has conspired with Ralph the cat....Ralph will knock the bowl from where it's kept (out of Henry's reach) down to the floor, and Henry gobbles away! Then the cat sits and looks at me like "see, I told you that dog was trouble". The cats now have heavier ceramic food dishes, which are MUCH harder to shove to the floor! :laugh2

I don't know if it would be considered junk food, but Denali LOVES broccoli. He will do anything for a piece!
He also likes green beans and peanut butter. Probably his favorite junk food is pretzels. He will come running when we open a bag! :laugh2

I have just discovered Merlin likes guacamole and taco chips....
I found this out last night-when I had a friend over for drinks-and-stupidly-left a plate of guacomole and chips on the coffee table while I went to show her my garden.....
Came back and guess who is finishing off the plate and looking really pleased with himself?LOL
Porter loves donuts.....Cooper hasn't had any "real" people food on purpose....just an occassional goldfish cracker that the kids have thrown at him.

Would have to say pizza. Which she hardly ever gets because I don't like pizza and it tends to be spicy and have onions, which aren't good for dogs. So, it makes sense that something she likes that she hardly ever gets would be her favorite, I guess.
She gets plenty of other things that she loves so it's cool. :)

So are green beans and carrots ok for them? Any side effects? Bailey is heavily into his peanut butter!! And cheese of course. Plus cottage cheese.

We don't feed Riley table scraps but she does get apples, green beans, carrots, peanut butter and yogurt. She also loves whatever the kids accidently drop on the floor. I love to get a big carrot with the ends and break it in half. Sometimes I put it in the freezer if I remember, but either way, I toss it outside and she chews it like a chewie! I figure it is better for her then a rawride! I also buy a can of dog food and freeze it in little balls. I stuff some balls in a kong or hollow bone and since they are frozen and wedged in there it keeps her busy for awhile. jump2 jump2 jump2

You've got to try sweet potato some time! Daisy LOVES sweet potato and they are so full of vitamins and good things. They make great kong stuffers. Just microwave for 5-6 minutes depending on the size, let it cool and you've got a very healthy snack - low cal, low fat.

Dylan's favorite food was anything that he could beg or steal from me. The only thing Dylan wouldn't eat was Science Diet dog biscuits. Go figure!

Smart dog! ;) :happy2 Considering the ingredients that go into a lot of commercial dog biscuits, he's probably better off passing on them anyway. One of my Goldens refuses to eat biscuits like that, too; I don't buy them for my guys, but occasionally a friend or neighbour will offer the dogs cookies.... I always warn them ahead of time that the boys probably won't eat them. :o

Kila has two favs....sausages are def number 1 on the list and she starts to drool for them as soon as she smells them cooking :) and the other is houmous (spelling?) which gets smeared on the fridge door while she is being brushed...you should see her sit and wait to be told its ok to have it :)

03-11-2005, 03:40 PM
do you mean hummus??? the chickpea spread that you eat with chips/ pita, etc??? good stuff. gotta try that with my boyz.. they'd probably like that.. My two, go absolutely ape for the bread, that I make, at work.. matters not, what type.. prefer it to liverwurst... go figure.. but have to limit their intake, cuz it's empty calories, for the most part.. but they do love it, especially sourdough.

Thanks for the translation Clements GR...Humous in Ireland is indeed Hummus (I checked my spelling when I seen how you spelt it :)) over in the US! It is a chickpea spread and OH does Kila LOVE it :) It also spreads really thinly across the fridge door so she doesnt get a huge amount of it while being brushed :)

Are sticks and twigs considered junk food? :laugh2 Or the wonderful deposits that the horses leave in the pasture that she finds and brings to show me? jump2
If you are wanting to know actual people food, then it would have to be potato chips. She also loves any kind of fruit or veggies.Unfortunately for her, she cannot have grapes since I found out they are toxic to doggies. :(

Before I leave for work in the mornings, I always fill Sunni's kong with peanut butter and she sets at my feet going crazy while I'm putting the peanut butter in the kong. After I'm finished, I let her lick the excess off of the plastic knife that I use. She also loves bananas (are they okay for dogs? I sure hope so). I haven't really found much that Sunni doesn't like. For instance, last night, I was eating an orange and of course she was begging (something I don't like but it's my husband's fault). I gave her a piece and she loved it. I would have to say her absolute favorite junk foods are peanut butter and popcorn. :085

Belts, Scouring pads, soap.......all that non-edible stuff. Tucker's also been known to run out of the teenage son's room with a potato chip bag on his head, more than once!

Cayenne's favorite junk food is saltfree popcorn. He loves to watch me pop it for the birds. I throw pieces up in the air & he jumps to catch them midair. He will do most anything for some of it. My pup loves a small piece of oatmeal cookie minus the raisons as they are on the "NO FEED LIST". He takes the small piece so gently in his mouth and then he carefully eats it. :dogbark :reddogx

I had to give up microwave popcorn altogether. From the moment of the first pop sound, Seamus loses his mind. He jumps around on his hind legs and moans this terrible, pathetic moan until he gets some. If you hold out on him, he snaps his teeth together like an alligator. It's just not worth the drama.

We have a hamburger chain where I live called "Sonic". Rusty loves the tater tots and hamburger, minus the condiments and veggies. His favorite is vanilla frozen yogurt....uuuuhhhhm boy...good stuff! No, he doesn't get them all the time, just very special occasions. First day of training class, graduation things like that. The place has car hops and one of the teenagers that work there is a neighbor so Rusty gets some extra special treatment!
