I would love to post more pictures on this site but can't seem to figure out how to resize them myself! I have a couple of different photo software programs but still need advice. i know this site will resize pictures but I want to be able to post several at a time on my own! Any advice???

I'm sorry. I'm not sure I understand the question. You can post more than one picture. Can you restate the question?

If I am understanding correctly you want to be able to post them as images hosted on your own site, not as attachments needing resized here. You can use a number of different programs - Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop, Microsoft Picture It, etc. Or you can use Photobucket's tools for resizing as well.
HTH! :)

What program are you using? You know how in pretty much every program, there is a toolbar up top? Usually the first thing is "File" and the next is "Edit" and so on. With most of my photo editing programs, I click on "Edit" and go down to "Image size" or "resize" or there may be something in the toolbar that says "Image" and then down from that "Resize". You have to play to find it, but most programs have some command in the toolbar for resizing the image.
Here's where you run into trouble, though. Most of the programs give you the resizing option in pixels or scale percentages, NOT KB's. I think they have to be around 48 KB or smaller to upload them to this site. So lets say you have a picture on your desktop you want to use. Right click on the icon of the pic on the desktop (or wherever it is on your computer) and go down to "Properties" and open Properties. There, you will see how many KB the picture is now. So if it's twice as many KB as it needs to be to upload here, you know you will have to reduce the picture scale by about 50%.
Are you following me this far?
Now, uploading more than one picture is another subject. You either have to do the build-a-website thing or can only do one managed attachment per post for it to show up in your post. There may be photo hosting sites you can link more than one pic directly to, but the last time I asked about that, I didn't get an answer, so I have no idea if you can link to photo hosting sites or not. It may have just been a problem with the site I was using. Are some of you having success linking to photobucket?

Marieppe has the right idea if what I am asking. I really don't mean I want to post a bunch of pictures at one time. i am talking about if I see I post I would like to answer to with a picture attached, I can't seem to get my pictures small enough. She is correct that when i go to resize it, it doesn't tell me the size in KB or MB, it just shows pixels, etc. I can right click it and get the picture size in KB or MB, but not for resizing the image. I have a couple of programs but one I like is microsoft picture it. I just thought it would be easier for me to resize then to send one to the website and wait for them to do it. I love seeing the pictures that several of the members contribute and I would love to do that! I try using the manage attachments field but my pictures are always too big! :054

Yes, you must save a reduced version of your picture and use that one when you do "Manage Attachments".
Do you know how to reduce the pixels or scale percentage from what I said above? Try reducing by percentage and saving the reduced image with a different name. Then right click on properties to see if you reduced it enough. If not, reduce some more, save, and check again. After doing this a couple times, you will be able to more accurately guess how much you need to reduce pictures by the first time and it will take less fiddling! :)

Hello, I'm new here and would love to post a picture of our pup. I followed the instructions in previous posts and I found that the one picture of him that we have scanned is 508KB! I think if I resized it down to 48KB it would be too tiny to see. Also, I found the size but couldn't see how to resize. Hopefully there is a way to do this, and I would appreciate any help! Thanks very much :doggface

There just has to be an easy way...I have Kodak Easy Share software, which is not allowing me to easily share my pictures. They are too many KB, even when I save them as thumbnails. Is there some other way to resize them using Kodak Easy Share software that I'm not aware of, or do I just have to email all the pictures to the Picture Resize??? I know how to do that because I did that with my avitar photo (thank you, by the way), but I hate to ask for multiple resizes.

I can't give you support on KES, but I can tell you that the thumbnails must be no larger than 99 x 99 pixels. They can be 99 x 79, 99 x 89, 88 x 88, 99 x 99, and so on. The actual size of one thumbnail file cannot be any larger than 20,000 bytes (1024 bytes = 1KB). Again, this is for thumbnail pictures.

Once you figure it out it is pretty easy. It took me a while but I got it. I just clicked on the properties on someone elses picture to see how many pixels it should be. Around 575 seems to be good, and my program does the second part automatically. I noticed that sometimes when you resize it the picture looks really fuzzy at first, but my boyfriend explained to me that it's because your computer is trying to fit the small pic to the page. After you save it, you just attach it to your message or to the pics site. I hope this will help someone.
