Hi I just put frontline plus on both my dogs a couple weeks ago. I have noticed that they still have fleas crawling on them and itching less than before but I still dont know what to do. I know I can't reapply anything anytime soon for that's what the box says but I am pretty sure I did it right I put it on the neckline on the skin and They still have them. Has anyone else had this problem with frontline? This is my first time using it. I used to use advantage but I switched to frontline plus because we moved and the ticks here are real bad. Any advice is appreciated.

HI,
I don't know much about why that would be, you should call the vet and ask. I wanted to get Advantage for Tulsa but the vet talked me into Sentinel which prevents heartworm and fleas, but she has fleas too. I know it is because Sentinel only stops reproduction, it doesn't kill fleas that hop on her. My dh and daughter have more bites again. Fleas only bites certain people. I thought Frontline was supposed to be as good or better then advantage. Perhaps it was applied wrong, or got washed off too soon, or not enough, or a bad batch, who knows! I would not be impressed however with it not working. I know after a couple of weeks for sure it should be working.
I would like to hear the update once you have it resolved.

I don't know much about frontline. We were using Advantage but now we use Revolution. It says it knocks the live fleas off the dog in 36 hours, kills the eggs, and is good for heartworm and tick and mites and other stuff.
Thats all I know about fleas. :204
I would suggest calling your vet. After two weeks it sounds like something is not right.

My guess is as quick as Frontline is working, more flea's are jumping back on the golden. Do not reapply, it is not needed. I believe Frontline works in 24 hours.

The Frontline will kill these new jumpers, but you may want to bring out the vacuum and start moving the furniture inside the house if this is where you notice this happening.

I agree...remember, new fleas are hatching out every 24 hours or so. So it will take time before you see no more. The ones on the dogs are probably dying off, new ones are taking their place. It will probably be a couple of weeks before you "break the cycle".

You can, use Frontline Spray, in addition to the drops. Infact they encourage it. I prefer just the spay any how, as I can spray it where it is needed, including beds and around the house.

I didn't realize fleas were that easy to see on dogs (newbie dog owner here!). I hope your golden baby gets rid of those little buggers soon! Do you see them all the time or when you are really checking for them?

thanks to all of you for the advice. I only notice them when I am really looking but they itch so much that I didn't know if they were cured. Maybe they are allergic to them. What are the signs for that?? We will be going out of town this weekend so we plan on laying some carpet flea powder down to let it settle then vaccum. Hopefully it helps!! thanks everyone.

If your golden is allergic to flea's, it is a intense itching and it will last up too a month was what I was told by our vet. It is the flea saliva that some are allergic too.

I don't know if I would put flea powder down on your carpets Goldenloverof2. The best way is too sprinkle some down then vac it up. This way as you vacuum your carpets the flea's and eggs will be killed in the vac bag and will not find their way back out of the vacuum.

Their are Flea Bombs also, but even using them you have to be so careful with other animals in the house and put everything away so as this chemical does not get on anything you would touch. Vacuuming is the easiest way to go daily and using Frontline or Advantage.
