Hi Everyone,

so we've gone and done it and got two kittens..

They were rescued after someone found them in a rubbish bin when they were just tiny and our vet's nurse has bottle fed them and looked after them till now.. they are now close to 4 months old.

They are brothers and we named them Bodie and Doyle.

They've been with us since the morning and so far they haven't done much apart from hiding from Molly.
They don't seem to be very interested in making friends but I guess this is just the shock from the fact that they are not only taken away from home but also introduced to this big barking thing.
Their instinct seems to be telling them to hiss and spit and run...

Molly was completely beside herself for the first couple of hours trying to sniff them but at the same time keeping a very healthy distance.. she seems to be a little scared of them but also intrigued and wants to desperately make friends.. but the boys are really scary every time she comes near them..

Right now they are all very tired from all the excitement... the boys are sleeping behind the curtains in our bedroom and Molly is sleeping by my side downstairs in the living room.

I hope that they will be more friendly tomorrow as I really want them to be friends...

here are the troublemakers

Bodie (he is the one who really just spits and hisses so far)

Doyle (he is actually quite adventures and even came up to Molly on his own.. but I think he thought she was a couch or something coz when her tail moved he jumped about a meter high.. too funny!)

umm...how do you tell them apart  :laugh2 Does Doyle have a dark spot on his nose? That's the only difference I can see.

Very handsome, both of them! Looking forward to your stories banana

zcly Jo Ellen .. the dark Charlie Chaplin tash is the only thing which I can tell them apart by!

What cute kitties! Good thing that little black smudge is on the nose or they would be twins! Double trouble!

I like that Jo Ellen :D
They are truly troublemakers! They stayed in the bedroom with me last night and I ended up moving downstairs and sleeping with the dog on the floor coz it was impossible to sleep with them around!
Are they nocturnal animals? Coz the racket they caused! Jumping on and of the bed like mentalists!!!

I took them out of the bedroom this morning and moved them to the landing. I think if I let them stay in the bedroom they would never come out. So now they have only a small space available so hopefully they'll soon get bored and venture downstairs.

They still don't want to though.. how long do you think I should leave them to adjust? Or do you think I should try to make them to stay downstairs? They don't want to have anything to do with Molly yet :( And just hiss and spit when she comes near them.

Well hon from experience we have 2 cats and the 3 dogs...cats were here first though. One cat loves the dogs as long as they are NOT playing tug of war with him...took him almost 6 weeks to like the dogs though. That's Rogue. Georgie on the other hand does not like the dogs. And after a year I don't think he ever will. Just give them time to adjust and be patient. They may get to be good friends, or they may just tolerate each other. You will never know. But it is good to give them an "out". Give them a spot they can go that the dog can't get to. Otherwise you are going to stress the cats out and do not try to force anything. Let it happen naturally.

thanks for the advice!

For now they had the landing where they stay when they want to get away but I'll move them to the kitchen today as they make too much noise up there at night and we can't sleep. I'll get a baby gate though so that Molly can't stress them at night.

We made A LOT of progress yesterday evening. We had all the animals and us in the living room and by the end of the evening Doyle and Molly where sniffing each other and then they just fell asleep.. Doyle on the sofa and Molly below it. She still gets a little excited when we are not supervising but I think we are getting there.

Bodie is the reserved clever cat who obviously thinks that Doyle has lost his marbles making friends with Molly.. he just tends to hide for now but I'm sure he will be fine with her in no time!

I'll try to get some pics of all of them together soon.

Daniela, congrats on your new kitties! I think it's good you got two at once- that way they can keep each other company and also not bother Molly as much when she needs her peace and quiet. :) They are still young, so I am sure they will adjust fine and become good companions! :D
