No our GR won't have a dog house, but WE will when she moves in!!! LOL...(we have a tendency to let our dogs have the run of the house, so in a sense it does become their 'big' dog house!!<img border=0 src="http://www.topgoldenretrieversites.net/smiles/085.gif" />

No dog house here! :lol
Our goldens won't even stay out on the gated patio or deck unless someone is with them. I doubt they would ever have need of a dog house! :)

No dog house here either. My dogs don't stay in the yard when I'm at work (luckily I'm only a few blocks away and can come home at lunch time). They also aren't very interested in staying out in the yard when I'm not out there doing something with them. Guess it's that "velcro dog" thing I've heard other people talk about! They're great companions and that is all I ask of them.

We don't have a yard, so no dog house. I did however buy a traveling crate over the weekend from Petsmart. The one that you can fold into one piece and it's nylon/mesh. That's Toby's new indoor crate now.

We've never had a dog house for any of our dogs, but in the link below is a pic of a dog house that I have been begging hubby to build. I can see Queen Jewel in it now..hehhee

No dog house for Daisy. She needs to be where the people are. When I'm away she stays inside.

No dog house here, except the one we all live in- I think our house is a dog house!
The dog beds are the couches, the armchairs (where Ginger is sleeping right now) and the beds...

It's MY house and this is MY bed!

We had a dog house for our older dog since he used to love being outside more than inside. The past 2 years he's been pretty much inside only.

Our new puppy went in once and sniffed around, but apparently it wasn't up to his standards.

We threw the dog house away this past weekend.

We have a crate for the puppy but the old dog just hangs around where ever he wants.

No dog house for Marley either. He's got my bed and his crate. I dont think I would have one anyway because it is way too hot here to keep him outside.

Her dog house is wherever I am. That could be the bedroom, the bathroom, the closet, the kitchen. Wherever mom is, that is her current doghouse ;)

We even share a tent when we go camping :)

We have a dog house that we had prior to getting MoJo. It is inside the outside kennel. She hasn't really investigated it yet, but I am sure she will. She is using her kennel outside for going potty. And it's amazing how little effort from us to get her to go in there.

I think that a Dog house during the summer is ideal. At least in my area. It get's pretty warm in my house 85 degrees +... next summer she will have some place cool to go to outside and away from everything.

Yes, we have a dog house but none of my dogs use it!!! It is in the kennel outside and they only go in it when I lock them up b/c of grooming clients or to keep them out of trouble! They actually have the whole garage as a "house" of their own. They even have a radio that I turn on to keep them company! They stay in there if they don't sleep in the house. They are out there a couple nights a week. Most of the time they like to sleep inside with us.:085

Nope, no dog house here. Even if I did have one she wouldn't use it unless I went in first:lol She's on me like glue. But I wouldn't have it any other way.:)

Bianka is a total inside dog and doesn't even like to be outside unless I am their with her.:)

Well, Mokie must be a "typical" Golden. His dog house is wherever I am - couch, under my recliner, or on my bed. I love it like that!!

We just got our puppy so who knows what will be! We own a dog house that my previous dog occasionally went into. Currently the puppy has looked at it and left. We have a LARGE crate as of today, she seems to like that alot, not sure how long we will crate her when we leave, but I guess at least a year. However, I do have a great picture of my cat sleeping in the dog house, tiny cat, big house equals a very funny picture!

Ours have a nice doghouse..709 sq ft with a kitchen, sofa chairs and fireplace, plus it has a little alcove for those who want to get away from the rest of them..it's a 255 sq foot nice cool tiled floor relaxation room, with doggie beds up on platforms to keep them raised off the floor! ;)

Actually the first room is our Family room/kitchen, and the attached room is the laundry area! :lol

I don't think they've ever even seen a dog house!

No dog house here. When we rescued her, she came with a house, but she never used it. We finally gave it away 2 years later. I have never needed to crate her, and she prefers being able to have freedom of the house anyway :)

Well i guess my Shadow and Star are just like the rest of their buddies and all have big beautiful homes fully equipped and have someone else to pay and clean for them...And they say us humans are the higher species...:banana Actually shadow and star have a very large newly painted and new flooring carpet in half tile in the other dog house but they choose to give it to the cats...They wouldn't even get inside to take a peek.. They let us know that mom and dads bed suit them just fine and they weren't interested in a move so thats where they are today...:jump2

From reading the posts it seems as most people keep their dogs in the house all the time. What do you do with your adult dog if you work all day? We have a puppy right now and I know even as an adult dog he will get into everything, so leaving him unsupervised in the house, yard or garage is not a good idea and we don't want to crate him all day! What to do??:\ :204

WOW!

Not a lot of dog houses.

I guess I'll go against the grain and admit that yes, Cosmo DOES have an outside dog house.

Of course it is in a chain link fence enclosure that is 20' x 10', and the dog house itself is about 4'x8', and filled with nice fluffy straw.

Cosmo just LOVES it. We don't leave her in there all the time, but we live way out in the country & sometimes we just can't have her in the house all of the time.

When I first built the enclosure around the dog house (used to be a playhouse) and put her in her new kenel, she wouldn't go in. Even when it was raining, she'd lay out in the rain.

Well, that lasted about once. Now she lays in there sometimes with her little head peeking out the door.

I'll take a picture

Honey has a dog house too. We also live out in the country. She sleeps in the house at night, and is with us pretty much during the day, but she enjoys spending a few hours out in her kennel every morning, and a few hours every afternoon. Part of it is brick and covered, and the rest is grass. She only goes in the house if it is cold. She likes to lay in the grass, and will just go under the roof if it rains. :dog9

Rudy doesn't have a dog house either. As long as he has his "blankie" and is near his "mama", he's happy. He doesn't like to stay outside without us, but he does like to lay in our entrance way and look out the sliding patio doors while he relaxes!

Seriously, no outside dog houses. Just their wire crates inside, nice and comfy with orthopedic bed cushions. Of course, their preferred bedding is the sofas! :D We do have a raised dog cot outside, so that when we're all outside, they can lay on that if they want.

I'm still surprised at the ratio of "always inside" to "mostly outside" dogs!

Cosmo sleeps inside in her crate, but spends the majority (well, 1/2) of her time outside. Mostly out playing with my son, or out "helping" my wife with yardwork, vegitable garden, water garden, etc...

I guess that's one bonus of living out in the country.
