How often do people shampoo their dogs? I brush Sammy every day, and he doesn't seem dirty. He plays in the snow every day. When I brush him, he has no odor, and his coat looks great. He hasn't had a bath for six or seven weeks. Do I bathe him anyway, just because it's been so long?

I only bathe Jeter when he needs it. Their coats seem to clean up so nice you don't have to give them that bath very often. Much to Jeter's dismay (he loves baths and would take them every day if he could lol) Sounds like Sammy is nice and clean I wouldn't personally bathe him if he doesn't need it, just my personal opinion. :D

hey, while we're on the subject...what if the dog (ok, MY dog) gets to smelling bad and needs to be bathed every WEEK? tawny goes outside and comes back in smelling like a dead carcas or something. it's really gross and my family hates the smell. it's bad enough how much both of our dogs shed all over the furniture. how often is it ok to bathe my dog? and can you suggest any inexpensive odor removers for teh dog's coat? i was thinking about trying some dry shampoo, but haven't gotten around to getting any yet. :054

We only bathe ours when they need it too...which is infrequently, like when they roll in something! We just use a puppy-no tears shampoo, conditioner and that's it.
