Hi All-
Not looking to start the shave or not to shave debate. Just wondering if anyone out there has before and after (or just after) pics of their golden shaved?

Not a great picture - but this is my friend's Golden, Jake. They take him to get a "puppy cut". They leave some feathering on the backs of his legs and his tail, but the rest of his body kinda looks like a puppy who's hair hasn't fully grown out yet. <img border=0 src="http://www.topgoldenretrieversites.net/smiles/pawprint.gif" />

it's the last entry on that page (well - at least it was the last entry when I looked)
If you scroll down through the pictures of that day - there's a picture there that's entitled "puppy sniffing train" - there's a GReat picture of Jake in his puppy cut!!! He's so cute!!!! He's such a good boy!! (I think my Maddie likes him!!) :b
Have fun on the little scavenger hunt I'm sending you on!!
Gee... wonder how many other people are going to be searching!! :lol

ohhhh ok. I guess I had it all wrong. I pictured a shaved golden like my hair cuts (almost military style). Looks pretty good to me...

Jake has a very nice cut! :)
Who ever cut him did a really good job! It looks like they thinned his undercoat and got his outer coat really short.
The last time Cayenne was shaved they butched her. They shaved off all her outer coat and left her with nothing but a little bit of her fizzy undercoat! :(

Most of the shaved Goldens I've seen looked more like what KC described. You can really tell they've been shaved. They look very light in color and kinda frizzy, and usually they leave all the coat on the head/neck and tail so it looks odd! Sometimes they shave that too, and then they look a little like Labs but not pretty... Usually when they shave you don't get a nice flat-lying coat like in that dog's photo- it sticks up more.

Hi Guys-
Well we decided to shave him. Here is the pic.

We were cracking up when we first saw him :lol . Looks like he has a mask on! He still seems to collect the same amount of dirt when he is outside, but the clean up is much easier. We are going to let it grow for the winter and shave him again in the spring. He seems to be happy with the cut. I will try to get a before picture so you all can see the difference.
