trimming long nails!

ok, I got Sam all cleaned up, except he has very long dark nails and he won't let me clip them!!! I have never had to clip my girls nails, they wear down while we walk. Will Sams nail wear down too? Or will I have to cut them first?

If they are very long you will be better off taking the dog to the vet's office for the trim so they have the extra hands needed to keep the boy still while trimming.

The vet would be the best thing to do, and have them show you how to clip and care for the nails.
If you are unable to go to the vet, get someone to help you. Try to have the person holding Sam entertain him and give him some treats, and try and make it fun!
Look at the nails carefully. You will notice a darker middle. This is the blood vein. You do not want to clip up to short into the blood vein. Clip the tips off and then repeat a few days later. Make sure you have some Quick Stop or baking soda handy incase you do clip one to short and it starts bleeding.
