Hi,
I have read some threads here related to HD and know I should not be too worry about it. But it will be great if I can get some advices and comments about our dog’s (Jinny) situation.
Recently (don’t remember when did it start), I can hear some clicking / pooping sound from Jinny’s rear when I walk her. May be not every step and I do think there is some sound coming from her rear end.
She is now 10 months old, coming from a good breeder and her parents have all the health clearances. We have an x-ray on her hips when she is 6 months old while having her spayed. Our vet said the x-ray is good.
Other than the sound when walking, no other sign. She walks, runs, plays, climbing stairs and getting up fine.
Now, I’m just wondering, should we worry? Should we get her to the vet to do some testing?
Thanks for your advices in advance.

Under the circumstances, my guess is that your puppy is simply growing fast or perhaps, there is a stiffness in the joints. As long as there is no obvious lameness or some reluctance to walk, jump, etc., then I would not worry about it.
Some owners say that giving an Glucosamine & Chrondroitin additive, will ease the stiffness and clicking noise.
By the way, you should now be feeding an adult diet.

Thanks a lot.
I want to get some advice because I don't want to put her under sedation if not necessary. I believe that in order to have an x-ray done right, you have to put the dog under sedation. That's why we did one when she got spayed, she was under sedation anyway.
She is on Canidae. She is lean and actually quite small in size. She is 40.5 lbs but her breeder said her dad is slow to mature. She has enough exercise and has good muscle tone. We also give her salmon oil.
How often should you give Glucosamine? Where to find Glucosamine? Are they just pills for human that you can get from regular drug stores or Walmart etc.?

I buy mine from Sam's Club--the human kind is the same but much cheaper than those marketed for dogs.
Just a FYI, generally the dog doesn't have to be sedated to do x-rays. I would say never, but I'm sure there are instances where they would need to be. But it sounds like "growing pains" to me too.

The dog needs to be sedated for OFA xrays. Ideally, they need general anesthesia or very heavy IV sedation, or the muscles will not relax enough to properly position the hips. Taking good photos for OFA is difficult and most vets do a poor job. Sedation makes taking good photos easier.

The only other thing I can think of - and I pray this is wrong - is a torn meniscus in her knee.
Duke had 2 surgeries to repair a 100% tear in his crucia ligament. After those two surgeries I started to hear a snapping sound coming from that knee (I guess it could be misconstrued to be coming from the hip if I didn't know better). It wasn't all the time and he didn't nor has he now shown any lameness from it. But it was the meniscus. The vet explained it like this - the meniscus is a very thick ligament (tendon? - don't remember which) that when torn the torn piece will literally slap across the knee sometimes.
I haven't heard it now for quite sometime and he's hardly lame at all from the other surgeries which is a big yea! Even these are not supposed to heal themselves, I think that something positive has definately happened as I don't hear it snapping any more.
Is it more of a snap do you think?
