Hey folks...
Just wondering is there a area where I can read up on things that I can add to my 5 month olds food to mix it up a bit?
I have been adding in a very small handful of cooked peas every so often but she eats it all so fast I'm not sure that she is even chewing. What kind of vegetables or other things do people put in their food? Also wondering about supliments for healthy diet & life.
OONAGH thanks you in advance.

If you feed a high quality food, supplementing is not necessary and is not recommended. All you will do is spoil your dog (they will only eat if there is "special" food with the kibble) and possibly allow them to get fat. You are better off and will save money by just feeding a high quality food.

Some of the things that I add to my Goldens food besides peas are carrots, greenbeans, raw pumpkin, cauliflower etc. almost any vegetable not on the "Do not Feed List". I also add eggs & salmon, sardines or other fish minus the bones. My dogs love chicken broth on kibble too. I use salmon oil or fish oil caps & I only use supplements for my senior dog. Hope this helps for a start.

Thanks folks.... we are feeding her the NUTRO LB Puppy food.
I adjust the amount of kibble if I add anything. I just want to give her a bit XTRA once in awhile. bonex1

Feel the same way you do concerning the additions. Also started my pup on Nutro LB puppy food when he was a pup. Began to vary the kibble later on after he matured. Never had any problems with him growing too fast or being overweight. He is now 3yrs old & in great condition & no physical problems.

Try stuffing a kong with some cooked sweet potato -- sweet potato is a full of vitamins and minerals, but very low in fat -- very good for your dog and the actually cooking part makes your house smell really good !!! :029
Dogs have a natural sweet tooth I believe, sweet potato is very satisfying.

Tinkerbell is 7 months old and is on Nutro LB also. I buy her a bag of frozen veggies each week for her to toss in. Adds somethign extra, helps fill her up without adding weight, and she loves it. I also use fresh sweet potato, squash, and pumpkin.
I also add in a little bit of canned. 1 can lasts for about 2 days (4 meals). I stick to the higher quality canned foods like Nutro and better. This way I can vary her diet a little without doing a food switch. I use different brands and proteins (salmon, beef, chicken, venison) I was told that the couple of spoonfuls she gets with each meal shouldn't cause any problems and it hasn't.
