Hi golden lovers!

I need help in techniques of grooming my golden girl, Abby! When I begin to brush/comb her, she either tries to eat the brush or comb OR lays down and wiggles so much I can't groom her at all! How do you all get your pups to hold still?:054 Thanks for helping.

Start by brushing her while she's eating- just a few strokes, then leave her alone. Work up to grooming the whole time she's eating. Then try continuing a little bit when she's finished. Give her treats while you work (not too many!). :)

For whatever it's worth: I use an old table out in my back yard whenever I groom my dog. Having the dog at eye level, makes it easier for me. And I have found that the dog does not squirm as much. I don't know how old your dog is, but I think it also pays to begin the business of grooming while the dog is still a puppy. By the time the dog reaches adulthood, you should not have any problems keeping them under control while grooming. I have also found that grooming them outside (if possible) keeps all the little pieces of hair out of your house.

Happy grooming!

We groom our goldens the same way as Goldenjack. We get them off the ground. Our neighbor has an old table we use outside when its nice. We have a table in the basement we use in the winter. our goldens love getting up on the table, they love all that attention!;)
