View Full Version : Should I worry about soup bone contaminating house?

This is probably a dumb question but I was wondering... today my husband gave Geddy her first soup bone (with marrow). She ate it outside on a mat. But when she came in she was walking around the kitchen, etc. He put her in her crate (after taking out her bed). When I got home a few hours later I let her out of the kitchen, etc. When I talked to my hubby he suggested that I wash her down b/c she got marrow and raw meat all over herself. Now I'm worried that I've contaminated the whole house.
So I'm wondering... do you guys do anything to "clean" your dogs after giving them a bone, and before they can enter the rest of the house? Any problems to speak of??
Again... sorry if this is really dumb!

It's not dumb to ask :)
You'll be fine, you won't have any problems. Don't worry! Bet Geddy had a great time chewing it :D
I give Daisy bones in the house. I lay down an old sheet to protect the carpet. I don't do anything else. She's 6 ... she's alive. So am I ;)
Did you see War of the Worlds? Very interesting, the narration at the end. We've earned our immunity though 1000's of years of exposure. I wouldn't want to know what all we bring into the house on the bottoms of our shoes
You're safe. Relax !! Bones are good for your dog's teeth, too ... it's a GOOD thing :)

Thanks Jo Ellen for letting me know not to worry. I wanted to give the bone to Geddy b/c I do believe in a raw diet (even tho my hubby says no), so I wanted to give her the benefits of a raw bone from time to time. For her health as well as for her teeth. But as soon as he brought up the raw meat on her coat aspect I started to fret (which is what I do best I'll admit). So thanks a bunch for letting me know all will be well.
I don't believe that I've seen that movie... but you're absolutely correct... Geddy had a fabulous time!! :woofpup

Hi Sandra,
Dumb questions do not exist! I agree with Jo Ellen.
My boys often eat outside in the garden and when it rains inside the house. I never 'clean' my dogs, because they are very clean eaters.
If you run a normal cleaning house hold you do not have to be afraid at all.
