Has anyone tried to train their goldens to pee in one spot in their yard? Hubby is concerned about yellow spots all over the lawn. Kacey is a smart dog, I was wondering if this is a realistic training goal and how I would go about doing it? Does the type of dog food make any difference? Thanks for any advice.

Thanks John. The Dog-on-It Lawn Problems article is awesome- very comprehensive discussion of options. Its going in my dog file. I really do try to find these threads before I post.

My Goldens both use one area to eliminate in. I taught them to do this when they were pups by taking them directly to that area for each elimination. Taught them command words for urinating & defecating too.
This is helpful when travelling or in rainy weather.

Well, my neighbors have a perfect solution for them and brown spots in their yard from their female chocolate lab, Deva. She just comes over to my yard and pees there instead!

So, my problem is a little different as Duke is very much a "man". What do you do with a neighbor's dog that insists on using my green yard as her potty?

And, yes - I'm going to talk to them, just thought I'd put a different spin. The perfect solution! (for them :( )
